BODYWORK SESSIONS

Take care of wear and tear on your body with a 30, 60, or 90 minute session of mixed modalities including sports massage, trigger point therapy, assisted stretching, cupping, scraping, and kinesio-taping. Any and all may be used, but your preference is always honored. Scroll down for more detailed descriptions of these methods.

BODYWORK + TRAINING

Address training plateaus, mobility restrictions, overuse injuries, or nagging aches and pains with a 60 or 90 minute session that combines the bodywork modalities listed above with movement assessment and correction. Get yourself out of pain, moving well, feeling great, and hitting new goals!

ABOUT CUPPING, SCRAPING, & TAPING

Cupping Therapy is a form of bodywork that utilizes suction, or reverse pressure, on the skin to aid in lymphatic drainage, circulation, pain relief, and soft tissue recovery. This method is safe for almost everyone and can be performed almost anywhere on the body. The sensation of the cups feels like strong pressure, and when moved around, will feel like a massage. I practice both static and gliding methods of cupping therapy. I primarily use plastic vacuum cups. Fire cupping is also available upon request.

With Fire Cupping, flame is used to suck the oxygen out of glass cups, which creates a suction when placed on the body. The flame does not touch the patients body, the marks are a result of the blood being pulled to the surface of the skin, not from the heat touching the body.

Muscle Scraping, or IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization) is a method of manual therapy that uses medical grade steel tools to detect and treat fascial restrictions. This method is great for areas exhibiting tendonitis, chronic inflammation, and soft tissue fibrosis/scar tissue. Your tissue will be warmed up with massage as an emollient is applied to the skin. The technique is performed for <10 minutes per area to avoid overworking the tissue. Some redness or tenderness may occur but will normally fade quickly. Most people enjoy the treatment and notice results almost immediately.

RockTape is made out of a proprietary blend of cotton and nylon. It’s designed to mimic the skin’s elasticity so you can use your full range of motion. The tape’s medical-grade adhesive is also water-resistant and strong enough to stay on for three to five days, even while you work out or take showers. When the tape is applied to your body, it recoils slightly, gently lifting your skin. It is believed that this helps to create a microscopic space between your skin and the tissues underneath it. This helps to mitigate pain and swelling. Taping can also add extra support to muscles and joints, improve posture, and increase athletic performance.

ABOUT ASSISTED STRETCHING

Assisted Stretching is is both deeply relaxing and rejuvenating. I primarily use the Fascial Stretch Therapy method, which involved moving the joints through comfortable ranges to achieve mobility in the surrounding muscles and connective tissue. My goal is to balance the body, not to stretch you into a pretzel…

I am constantly evaluating, looking for imbalances, as well as the source of those imbalances. Then using breath to help with movement, I will first warm up the joints and muscles with undulating stretching to maximize blood flow. Then using techniques of slow undulating movement, as well as traction (gently pulling to create space in the joint) and modified PNF ( proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), synchronized with the breath, I stretch the entire body, following a logical anatomical order, to lengthen muscle, increase range of motion, and improve flexibility.
